Once a week I volunteer at VincentCare, a support service for homeless and disadvantaged individuals. I work with a group of 5 other acupuncturists and together we conduct a group acupuncture session at the local community drop in center and in their drug and alcohol residential program. We see a wide variety of people, from people who are front line homeless living rough on the streets, individuals withdrawing of alcohol and other drugs to the elderly living in local supported accommodation. It is a diverse and complex workplace which I find incredibly rewarding as we are able support incredibly vulnerable people but also offer a type of treatment which they have often never heard of or experienced before
VincentCare recently published an article about my experience with their organisation; to read the full article please follow this link: Raeng – Acupuncture Volunteer.
